Cross Country Competes Against Austin ISD
The cross country team took a morning trip to Walter E. Long Lake, on Friday Sept. 1, to face off against Austin ISD.
This was one of the cross country team’s first meets of the year, so runners were able to see what their strengths were, and which areas they needed to improve in.
“I feel like I did pretty good but I definitely burned out, I went too hard at the start, or at least I got that mentality,” Bryce Limbacher ‘21 said. “I feel like I definitely held myself back thinking that I was out of energy when I clearly wasn’t. Cross country definitely has some mentality aspects to it.”
Out of the Westwood runners, the leaders from each division were Nate Ferrioli ‘21, who received second place in the freshman boys category, and Pablo Lluis ‘21 who placed sixth in JV boys.
“I got second for the freshman division, I felt like it went pretty well,” Ferrioli said. “ I think we’re gonna do well, and we’ll just keep improving.”
The cross country team’s next meet will be against Pflugerville on Friday, Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m. at Northeast Metro Park.
