The JV White volleyball team faced off against the Hutto Hippos on Friday, Sept. 22. Though it was a running battle with consistent defense on both sides, the Lady Warriors dominated the game 2-0 and took a score of 25-14 in both of the two sets.

“It was fun, I think we did really well tonight,” Mia Kuge ‘20 said. “We needed to have a lot of communication, and pumping up others on our team was our goal, to make everyone feel upbeat.”

Throughout the game, the Lady Warriors continuously communicated with each other and were focused and concentrated, helping to lead to their eventual victory.

“My goal was just to close the block,” Alma Zirojevic ‘21 said. “We were on our heels, but we need to be on our toes and be ready for everything.”

Even though the girls were happy about their victory, they still had their eyes set on the future and what they can improve on for upcoming matches.

“I knew if they got above 20 we would have to run on Monday,” Lauren Kelley ‘21 said. “Our energy was higher tonight, but we need to work on hitting more aggressively and being on top of the ball.”

Kuge, Zirojevic, and Kelley would like to thank the JV White coach Lanea Meyer for helping them learn all that they needed to achieve their victory. With about four weeks left in their season, the JV White Lady Warriors looks forward to their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 26 on their home courts. They will be playing Round Rock High School at 5:30 p.m..
