The Pacesetters will host the annual Homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Westwood High School from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be a blacklight theme and the cafeteria will be blacked out with special lights set up all around.

“We will have neon tape, silly string, glow sticks, and black lights everywhere, so white and neon colors will glow,” Pacesetters President Cecilia Bibbo ’18 said.

The cafeteria will also be divided in half, with one section for dancing and one for socializing and eating. Along with themed decorations, there will be food trucks. Cold Cookie Company and Johnny Bean Coffee will have products available for purchase.

“Because the dance is at Westwood, we have more money to spend on food trucks and decorations and lighting,” Bibbo said.

Unlike last year, this year, the attire will go back to being formal.

“Last year we weren’t sure why [game day attire] had to be put out there, but as [in] the past years, girls [will] wear heels and a dress,” Bibbo said. “Boys dress nice as well. It is the underclassmen’s only dance for the year, so we are trying to make it nice again.”

The Pacesetter organization is working hard to plan and carry out a fun dance for the student body. Bibbo advises students to not be discouraged because it will be at Westwood. The money for a venue, which is usually around $7,000 will be put towards decorations and other aspects of the dance.

Tickets for the dance will be $25 and can be bought at all lunches starting Monday, Oct. 2. The tickets can be purchased with either cash or check. There will be tickets sold at the door, but to avoid lines while entering the dance, it is a good idea to buy tickets ahead of time.
