Freshman Girls Basketball Falls to Killeen 21-15

The freshman basketball girls played against the Killeen Kangaroos for their second game during their pre-season on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Despite the score being relatively close throughout the game, the Warriors lost 21-15.

The game started with the opening tip off, which the Kangaroos won. Throughout the first quarter of the game, the Warriors had many passes around the three-point line but struggled to dribble the ball in to shoot. Many accounts of double dribbling and traveling were penalized against the team. The Warriors’ defense was relatively strong around the three-point line. However, there were many open spots to dribble into and shoot near the free-throw lane, costing the team several points. The final score at the end of the first half was 10-8 with the Kangaroos leading.

During the second half, the Kangaroos had many fouls, bringing the Warriors to shoot many free throws. Caroline Dougherty ‘25 was able to make two free throws. The Warriors spent an equal amount of time on defense and offense.

“I thought the game was a close game,” Ahana Thakur ‘25 said. “I think our team could have pushed harder, but overall, it was a fun and good game.”

The Warriors will play against Leander Glenn on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 5:15 P.M.in the Aux Gym for their next game.
