On Tuesday, Feb. 14, the JV girls’ soccer team battled against the Round Rock Dragons, ending with a tie of 2-2.

As the Warriors and the Dragons are rival schools, both teams fought hard and strove to keep the ball on the other team’s defense throughout the game. As the stands roared with each shot, Anneke van der Meer ‘25 kept her eyes on the ball with multiple saves.

Scoring the first goal of the game, forward Natalie Safarik ‘26 caused an uproar across the Warrior Bowl. Shortly after, the Dragons scored a goal as well. Running the ball back and forth across the field, the Warriors kept the score tied and finished the first half 1-1.

“The last time we played Round Rock, we lost 1-0 and I was injured at the time, so this was my first time I was able to play Round Rock,” Safarik said. “When I first went out on the field, the goal that I had in my mind was to try to get a goal, and so it was great that it actually happened.”

Throughout the second half, the ball continued to travel back and forth across the field for some time. With 18 minutes left in the game, the Dragons scored another goal. In a tremendous effort to bring the score back up, Bailey Shuford ‘25 snuck one more goal past the keeper with only six minutes left in the game.

The Warriors will challenge Stony Point at the Warrior Bowl on Friday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m.
