On Tuesday, Oct. 24, JV Orange volleyball knocked out the Cedar Ridge Raiders for a second time in their last game of the season. The Lady Warriors entered the match with confidence and communication leading them to speed through the first set. In the second set the Warriors continued their high energy, but the Raiders picked up their pace and made it a close match. After multiple timeouts, team pep talks, and bittersweet last moments, the Lady Warriors powered through and won, 2-0.
“Something that I’ve improved on this season is my serve receive,” Sadie Hill ‘26 said. “I used to not play back row and I wasn’t strong in passing but I think I have gotten better this season and our team has improved a lot on communication and covering the block.”
In the first set, the Lady Warriors started off on the right foot getting the first point and going on a four point run. Kate Petty ‘26 tipped the ball over the net, also spiking the ball gaining multiple points. To stop the bleeding, the Raiders called a timeout when the Lady Warriors scored a point to take the lead 11-6 in hopes to catch back up with the Warriors. However, Chloe Paddock ‘25 consistently dove and attempted to keep the ball off the ground. Though the Raiders showed a new found hustle it was too little too late leading the Warrior to win 25-11.
“We got a lot of touches and digs [which were memorable] and we really came together as a team,” Hallie White ‘26 said. “We got a lot of celebrations that we couldn’t throughout the season which was really cool.”
In the second set the Lady Warriors stayed consistent and earned the first point of the set getting off to another fast start, with Lila Wellington ‘27 serving and Petty setting it over the net, helping the Lady Warriors take a huge lead. Once again the Raiders called a timeout early in the set and after the initial time out, the Raiders made their comeback and tied the Lady Warriors 12-12. This led the Warriors to call their own time out to regroup and make a push to win. The set was neck-and-neck leaving no space for error on either team. The Lady Warriors took a two point lead finishing the second set 25-21.
“[Since the first time we played the Raiders] we are more comfortable with each other and we really focus on our goals and we pursued them,” Lily Toledo ‘26 said.
Now that the season is over the Lady Warriors will take what they learned this year and look ahead to the next.
