On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the JV White volleyball team took on the Vandegrift Vipers on the Lady Warriors home court, losing in a 2-0 sweep. The Lady Warriors had a good start in the first set as they brought the necessary energy and cheered each other on after every point. However during the first set Coach Kobren received a yellow card due to a mix up in the subbing of players. This confused the team and brought down their energy to end the first set. The Warriors fell short 25-17.
“I think we should work on paying attention more in games,” Coach Kobren said. “During that game I ended up getting a yellow card because my girls weren’t paying attention.”
Even though the Warriors had a minor setback, they bounced back in preparation for the second set and brought even more energy and intensity. The Lady Warriors worked as a team to close the gap during the second set, keeping the Vipers on their heels. However, despite the close second set, the Vipers took home the win, with a score of 25-21.
“We worked really hard as a team which is what I think matters most,” Simone Riha’ 26 said. “At the end of the day, win or lose I just really enjoy playing with a team, it’s really fun.”
As a team there is always room for self reflection and to look past the bad, and that is exactly what the Lady Warriors did.
“I think we played pretty well,” Autumn Jacobs’ 26 said. “I think Emma [Waghorne’ 27] had really good blocks.”
The Lady Warriors will return to action Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Georgetown tournament at Georgetown High School.
