A tremendous honor, the Westwood Symphony Orchestra has been selected to be featured on From the Top, an online non-profit platform showcasing young classical musicians’ talent. Available April 8, the orchestra’s performance will be broadcast on over 200 radio stations across the United States, several podcasting websites, and the From the Top website. The platform averages half a million listeners weekly, giving the orchestra tremendous exposure to avid classical music enjoyers and musicians.
This episode of From the Top delves into exploring the different range of instrumentations used for classical music including virtuosic soloists, small ensembles, and full orchestras. These different performances highlighted how different methods of composition can give listeners a wide variety of listening experiences in classical music. The orchestra recorded Symphony No. 10, Op. 93 – II. Allegro by Dmitri Shostakovich, featured alongside recordings from various musicians from Tucson, Arizona and Los Angeles, California.
The orchestra’s featured recording can be listened to on KMFA-Austin 89.5 on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m.
