With a prominent theme of USA, the second pep rally of the year took place on Friday, Sept. 20. In an effort to embody the theme, a diverse range of students, from the SunDancers and cheer to the sports teams and students in bleachers alike, decked out in red, white, and blue, filling the gym with a patriotic spirit.
Starting off with the classic free pizzas, shirts, and announcements from various Westwood organizations, the pep rally also saw a game of tug-of-war, with the varsity football team facing off against the teachers, in which the teachers won. Subsequently, the SunDancers performed, and in a surprise to the crowd, quickly had the teachers join them in the annual student-teacher dance.
“I’ve always had somebody ask me to join a part of [the dance], and I’ve never minded cause it’s always been good fun,” Math Teacher Mr. Tyler Shaw said.
After the dance, student volunteers took the stage and played a Family Feud-style game, where they tried to guess the top ten things Westwood is most known for, and would receive points based on where the item was on the list.
“It was just like five random people from both sides,” Ryan Flagg ‘25 said. “I think we did pretty good.”
The next pep rally will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 in the field house gym.

The article clearly described the patriotism of the school on this spirit day. The photo perfectly depicts what is said in the title and the article with the cheering captured in it.
