Winning over the audience with their energy and charm, Warrior Pride contributed to the exhilarating atmosphere on the field. On Thursday, Sept. 19, Warrior Pride members took their place on the Warrior Bowl field for their first JV football game performance of the season.
Performing choreography to the song Lonely by Joel Corry, Pride members’ hard work left the Warrior Pride directors feeling more than satisfied with what the team accomplished.
“I feel nothing but just so proud,” Head Director Jenna Drummond said. “[I’m] proud of our team. They did such a beautiful job tonight.”
Fellow Director Lindsey Bushn and Ms. Drummond sent choreography to the team a month in advance to prepare members for the big performance.
“From the summer to now, in our class time we have been cleaning our dance,” Ms. Drummond said. “We’ve been learning choreography, and just working really really hard during our rehearsal time to make sure our dance is at the best it can be.”
For new Pride members, their first performance is a big deal. New member Anandiganga Raj ’27 prepares for the big show by practicing often and reminding herself of the hard work done during the school day.
“I felt kind of nervous to be performing for the first time with the team,” Raj said. “I feel like my nerves fueled me to practice [more].”
Senior Pride members are delighted to be back, and excited about the opportunities that come along with their final year on the team.
“Being a senior during football season is really fun because there is a lot of recognition going towards the seniors,” Pride member Betsy Soberanes ’25 said. “It’s nice to be able to get that spotlight, after years of being [younger].”
Reminiscing on the bittersweet moment of this being their last first performance, senior members are moved by the conclusion of their show. Seeing both good and bad in the end of their time on the team, the senior Pride members are preparing to move forward at the end of the year.
“I’m sad [because] there’s one more performance left to go,” Soberanes said. “It’s moving forward in my life and finishing this chapter, but it is sad.”
