Stomps resounded from the stage as K-Pop Club performed at their spring showcase during Flex on Friday, April 11 in the cafeteria, presenting choreography for the final time this school year.
The showcase kicked off with opening remarks from Club President Anandi Raj ‘27 as audience members ate provided snacks. Following Raj’s introduction to the club, five members performed Debut (‘MAMA’ Performance Remix) by KATSEYE, featuring a lift that ended the performance on a high note.
“My favorite song was Debut by KATSEYE because I love the choreography, especially the part where we go into the splits,” Bella Wen ‘28 said. “The energy of the dance also made me motivated to practice more frequently to ensure that moves are perfected.”
Performing three dances in total, members of K-Pop Club presented Crazy by LE SSERAFIM next, garnering cheers from the audience. The final performance of the night was Whiplash by aespa.
“Performing [Debut was my favorite part] because it was a reflection of all of the hard work we put in,” Student Council Representative Dhiya Reddy ‘27 said. “We saw a lot of people come watch the show to support us.”
This year, the club streamlined the audition and member acquisition process to broaden their club with eager dancers. The process for choosing audition songs is simple: members and non-members alike vote for the songs, and the ones that win become the four songs that become audition pieces. After that, members are given a week to virtually audition through a video submission. Raj looks over the videos and picks dancers, and dancers are given two to three weeks to learn the choreography on their own before they begin practicing as a group.
“I think analyzing the mistakes that we made in the past [was important],” Raj said. “For example, in the last [showcase], we had bad audio quality, so this time, we were like, ‘okay, we need someone to bring their speaker’ so that people can more consistently hear the music.”

The showcase was initially set to take place in March. However, it was postponed due to practices and busy commitments. K-Pop Club has also felt the effects of recent increases in schoolwork. K-Pop Club has also felt the effects of recent increases in schoolwork.
“Since a lot of us are in other commitments, we created a spreadsheet and we put in our availability in the morning and afternoon,” Reddy said. “We meet up for around an hour and we meet up during flex. There were a lot of tests and schoolwork leading up to the original date, which didn’t let us have much practice time.”
K-Pop Club routinely performs at Homecoming celebrations and pep rallies, but to them, their showcases hold a special place in their club’s annual journey. It is an opportunity to show their talents as a team to interested students and allows them to celebrate their hard work.
“We perform at other school events, but this is our showcase of talents that we’ve been working on this whole year with dance classes,” Raj said.
