Focused, Genetic Engineering Club officers Jennifer Dai 24 and Brian Zhang 24 examine strawberry DNA that was extracted as part of the lab. To extract the DNA, club members stirred cold rubbing alcohol into a solution of smashed strawberries and DNA extraction fluid. For me, the best part about the lab was mashing the strawberries together. Theres just something special about absolutely decimating strawberries, Zhang said.
