Despite decades of improvement, women's sports are still marginalized and underrecognized. Westwood women's sports suffer from a lack of funding in comparison to their male counterparts. Football is repeatedly prioritized above other sports, no matter their competitive performance.

Grasping for the ball, Bella D'Alessandro '25 fights for possession in the Warriors' match against the Westlake Chaparrals on Tuesday, Oct. 15, to regain control of the ball. The warriors main focus against the Chaparrals was their three rules on engagement. "Rule number one any time you even think there's a change of possession we need to get back up on defense." On defense, Elyse Osborn '27, Bella D'Alessandro '25, Katherine Mayer '25, and Claire Braun '25 guard the goal from the Midway Panthers. The girls worked towards strengthening their defense the entire season in preparation for the district tournament. “Our defense is really good, we just need[ed] to keep up with that.
