Chinese Club Visits Coco’s Cafe

Chinese Club hosted a meetup at Coco’s Cafe on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The members had a great time hanging out with their friends and enjoying the delicious bubble tea drinks and oriental cuisine.

Billy Li ‘16, President of Chinese Club, arranged this outside of school meetup because he thought it would be an enjoyable event infused with Chinese culture for the members.

“I thought it would be a really good experience and we just all hang out and have fun outside of school on this 3 day weekend,” Li said.

Since many Warriors are constantly busy on the weekends with school related activities and extracurriculars, having Monday off as Columbus Day allowed them to relax and enjoy the company of their friends.

“I decided to come so I could just hang out with my friends,” Alex Wang ‘16 said.

The club decided on Coco’s Cafe as the spot of their hangout simply because it’s a great restaurant that promotes Chinese culture. The joint is among the most popular of Asian cuisine in the Austin area, their bubble tea drinks being a favorite item on the menu.

“We chose Coco’s Cafe as the location because it’s a classic Chinese or Taiwanese restaurant, and they have really good food and I just think that people that haven’t tried it before should really try it,” Li said. “I just want more people to be engaged in the Chinese community and just be more aware.”
