On Oct. 27, the New York Mets and the Kansas City Royals faced off in the baseball World Series for Game 1. On Nov. 1, the Royals beat the Mets 7-2 in Game 5 of the series. the Kansas City Royals won the World Series 4-1. The last game of the series took 12 innings, but eventually the Royals came out on top.

The Royals haven’t won a World Series in 30 years, but they did go to the World Series last year. They were behind the whole game, but in the 9th inning they tied the game and went into extra innings. They were tied until the 12th inning, when they scored 5 runs to finally win the game. Celebration in Kansas City was huge. They celebrated into the early morning, and are planning a huge parade for their hometown heroes. And while many thought the game was a guaranteed win for the Mets, since they had been leading the Royals the whole game, fans of the Royals never gave up hope and kept watching their team.

The Royals’ pitcher, Edinson Volquez, wasn’t expected to play because he had lost his father a couple days ago, but he played anyways. The hero of the game, though, was the Mets’ Matt Harvey. Even though they lost the game, he held off the Royals’ runs for 8 innings. Mets’ fans were chanting his name the whole game, and even wanted him to play the 9th inning. He hadn’t given up any runs the whole game, but he gave up 2 runs in the 9th inning, ultimately costing the Mets the game. but Harvey was definitely the best player in the game.

The 2015 baseball World Series between the Mets and the Royals has been a nail biter. But, the Royals beat the Mets, and Kansas City couldn’t be more happy. We can’t wait to see what happens next year.
