Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show is remembered with Katy Perry’s left shark mishap and surprise guests Missy Elliott and Lenny Kravitz, but sadly, it’s time to say goodbye. The NFL recently confirmed the halftime headline performer for Super Bowl 50 will be Coldplay.
The show is still in the process of being planned and will have multiple other acts.
Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin “is designing a show that will echo elements of the NFL’s On the Fifty campaign — honoring the past, recognizing the present and looking ahead to the next 50 years, including other special artists,” according from a press release from Pepsi, the show’s sponsor.
“We are so excited and honored and thrilled to be playing the halftime show,” Martin said. “It’s going to be wonderful and hope we see you there.”
Super Bowl 50 is to be hosted at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, California on Feb. 7, 2016, and will be shown on CBS.
