JV White Soccer Loses Against McNeil

On Friday, Feb. 26, the JV white boys’ soccer team went head to head against McNeil. After a slow start in the first half, McNeil scored the first and only goal of the game, making the end score 1-0.

“I felt confident at the beginning of the game,” Heechan Kang ‘19 said. “We won the last time we played them. It was disappointing to lose after we had won the first time.”

The team had lost a forward, Chris Martinez ‘19, in a previous game to a shoulder injury, so he was unable to play. According to some players on the team, he had been one of their best players, and his absence was a complication.

“Chris Martinez isn’t playing anymore,” Azaan Moledina ‘19 said. “He had his shoulder dislocated. When he was running, the goalie came out and knocked his legs out from beneath him. The goalie got red carded and Chris was out, so now I have his spot. It has definitely been a setback.”

After winning against McNeil a few weeks earlier, the boys went into the game with confidence. After the opposing team had scored the goal, some of the boys on the team were confident that they could catch up and score a point to tie the game.

“I felt pretty good going into the second half,” Luke Fryklund ‘19 said. “ I thought we could come back after they scored the point, but I don’t think everyone else had the same attitude.”

By the end of the game, the JV white boys walked away with a disappointing loss on their backs. In the end it was a single goal, a single point that won the game for McNeil.
