Varsity Baseball Falls to McNeil

Varsity baseball had a strong start to their season, and with a 11-3 record they faced their rival, the McNeil Mavericks. Coming off an important win over Rouse, the Warriors looked to advance their lead on April 4.

Coming into the game, the Warriors had high hopes for winning the match, but even with their determination and high hopes, the Warriors suffered a tough loss.

“We were confident we could beat them going into the game and disappointed when we lost to a team we should’ve beat,” Jacob Helwig ‘16 said.

With the score being tied until the top of the fourth inning, the Warriors were putting up a good fight. But after two McNeil runs, the tables turned and the momentum of the Warriors declined.

“This game we had too many fielding errors and base running mistakes in key situations but our coach [Casey Carter] thought our energy was good. We can learn to stop the team from continually scoring points,” Helwig said.

After the game, regrouping was needed and morale was low. Determination would make the team play  harder; this would be motivation for their next game.

Final score: 5-8
