Ending the season with a record score of 11-5, on Saturday, April 22 the JV boys’ lacrosse team won district honors as the first-place winners. The team defeated district opponents Cedar Park, Round Rock, Anderson, and Alamo Heights.

The boys did a great job this season of playing lacrosse the way the game is supposed to be played,” head coach Nate Carney said. “They consistently played with confidence and determination. They never gave up in any game with a few of our games being come from behind victories. With a mostly freshmen JV squad the Westwood Warriors have a very bright future ahead.”

The team completed the season with an 8-6 win in San Antonio against Alamo Heights Mules. The night before their last game, they had scored a 9-8 victory against Regents High School. The team also won against McNeil, as well as various non-district opponents like Cedar Ridge, Rouse, Bowie, Atascocita, and Sienna Plantation. The team took pride in their victory and improved steadily throughout the season.

“It’s pretty overwhelming,” Coby Koch ‘20 said. “We’ve grown pretty well with our passing, catching, shooting, and especially with our team being mostly freshmen. Our last game was a high point, because we just knew we had first place.”
