On Tuesday, Jan. 11, the boys varsity basketball team defeated Vista Ridge 51-32 in a home game, continuing the team’s overall victorious tradition this season. The team will next play the Vandegrift Vipers on Friday, Jan. 14.
Scouting his opponents, Henry Chuo ‘23 dribbles toward the net to take a shot. Throughout the game, Chuo played a key role in stealing the ball and shooting, helping the team win 51-32. “We didn’t shoot well till the end, so it was good we started shooting well and playing defense. It’s what helped us build our lead,” said Chuo.
Driving down the court with the ball, Zach Engels ‘22 makes a fast break towards the net followed by his offense and fellow player Karsten Bresser ‘22. “We played really well, we came off to a slow start, but in the second quarter we started to figure things out,” said Engels. “We had a lot of energy, especially defense.”
Brady Tomich ‘23 ducks under the defense as he looks for an opening to dribble the ball. Due to their strong efforts, the Warriors defeated the Rangers by 19 points. “Overall, I think the team did well,” said Tomich. “Defensively we did better than we did in our other game against Round Rock. We held them almost to double digits points-wise in the second half, that was really good for us.”
Jumping for the basket, Gabe Parr ‘23 shoots the ball above the other players. The Warriors were in the lead throughout the entire game, eventually winning 51-32. “We played really good. The Seniors led by example, which let us explode for a big [game],” said Parr.
