JV color guard begins their show with a dance feature. JV placed second and varsity placed fourth at their competition on February 12.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, the varsity and JV color guard competed at the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) competition at Hendrickson High School.

“[The competition] was definitely a learning experience,” JV captain Sophia Bednarz ‘24 said. “We’re more prepared for next time, we know what to expect, and we know what to work on.”

The varsity team placed fourth in the Scholastic A Class with their lullaby-themed show integrating pillows and large book props into their show. The JV team placed second in the Novice Class with their show about growth using the image of cherry blossoms.

“Overall, it was definitely a good experience,” JV member Nina Stockinger ‘25 said. “[Placing second] was pretty amazing because a lot of us didn’t feel like it was our best so getting second shows us that we could do so much better and maybe get first next time.”

Both teams will compete next on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Georgetown High School.
