School Canceled Thursday Due to Inclement Weather Conditions
As of 7:17 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, the Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) announced the decision to cancel all classes and school activities for the day due to hazardous weather conditions. With yet another winter weather advisory in place as sudden flurries of rain and freezing temperatures settle over the city once again, RRISD has made the decision as a safety precaution.
The district had originally resolved to delay school start times and bus routes by two hours. However, they decided to close all schools and offices after reviewing the predicted weather conditions in the morning.
“It was strange to have ice on my car since yesterday was so hot,” Emilia Cichocki ’23 said. “I don’t [really] like delayed starts because classes become shortened, [so] the day ends up as a bit of a waste. I’d much rather we just get [school] canceled entirely.”
All after-school activities taking place after 7 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday have also been canceled. Schools will reopen on Friday, Feb. 25. For updates and more information, visit www.roundrockisd.org.
