Student Athletes Participate in National Signing Day

On Wed. Feb. 2, student athletes that signed to various colleges and universities to become future collegiate athletes joined in the Field House for National Signing day with family, friends, coaches, and teammates. 

“After years of hard work playing on numerous club teams and traveling the country, I’m proud to be representing Westwood at the collegiate level. I’m excited to continue my future education at D’Youville College in the Physician Assistant Program while playing lacrosse,” Sam Newlin ‘22 said.

Ten Warriors represented five different sports while they signed their National Letter of Intents (NLI) as the last step in their recruiting process. The following students have made their decisions final:

 

Lacrosse:

Sam Newlin – D’Youville College

Ike Grossberg – Wagner College

 

Baseball:

Jeff Hebert – Eastfield College 

Mark Downey – Penn State Wilkes Barre

Matthew Gula – Odessa college 

Jack Brinson – Angelina College

 

Softball:

Elizabeth Joyner – University of San Diego

 

Volleyball:

Peyton Ferree – Radford University

Erin Fagan – Seattle University

 

Wrestling:

Leo Kubelka – Schreiner University

 

There are 4-6 more athletes still deciding.
