Ten Track Athletes Move on to Regionals
On Thursday, April 21, the track team took 14 athletes to the area meet in hopes of attaining a regionals qualification. Ten athletes qualified over eight events and will compete at the regionals meet at the Heroes Stadium from Friday, April 29, to Saturday, April 30.
“My experience in track has been amazing,” Emarion Lopez ’23 said. “Being able to run and hang out with your friends has been the best thing about track. Also, the relay teams haven’t gone out of district since I’ve been at Westwood, and now that I’m able to run in the regionals is exciting.”
The following athletes will be moving on to the regionals meet:
Girls 800-Meter Run
First place: Priya Gangadharan ’23
Girls 1600-Meter Run

Girls 200-Meter Dash
Third place: Violet Hewett ’25
Girls Triple Jump
Fourth place: Violet Hewett
Girls 4×100 Meter Relay
Fourth Place: Addy Sanderville ’24, Payten Ferree ’22, Violet Hewett, and Kenzie McElroy ’24
Boys 4×100 Meter Relay
Second place: Demani Stewart ’24, Zach Pryor ’22, Sean Lin ’22, and Xavier Ashford ’23
Boys 4×200 Meter Relay
Second place: Demani Stewart, Zach Pryor, Sean Lin, and Xavier Ashford
Boys 200-Meter Dash
Fourth place: Zach Pryor
