On Tuesday, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, the tennis athletes competed for a state title. Kinaa Graham ’23 claimed the 6A Girls Doubles State Champion, and Aashish Dhanani ‘22 and Aadhi Raja ‘23 won the 6A Boys Doubles State Championship. The Warriors were able to come away with two of the five individual state championships for the second year.

Graham won both games 6-0 in the finals as a junior, claiming the second gold medal of her high school career. The day prior, she won the quarterfinals game 6-1 and 6-2 and won the semifinals game 6-2 and 6-0.

“Going into the match, I was pretty nervous because there was a lot of pressure on me to win and it was expected by a lot of people,” Graham said. “I was able to focus my nerves into the match and play the best that I could. It was a really big relief after the match because I felt like I had a weight off my shoulders.”

Raja and Dhanani went 3 of 3 on upsets, winning their final match against Plano West 6-4 6-4. This was the first year Raja and Dhanani competed together in doubles.

“It was super exciting to see that we all won and it was a really good experience to come together as a team,” Graham said.
