On Friday Dec. 9th, Red Cross Club members gathered in Coach Meyers room during Flex for their annual winter club social. Members could enjoy eating winter themed cookies, donut holes, and popcorn, brought by officers and club members, while talking and playing board games. During the social, club officers broadcast a World Cup for the class to watch.

“It’s the end of the year and right before the finals, so it’s a nice way for the members to destress and come together for the end of the year before the long [winter] break,” Red Cross Club President Lokavya Marreddy ‘23 said.

In order for Red Cross Club members to retain membership, they have to obtain six service points, two social points, and one fundraising point per year.

“I [came] mainly because I wanted to have food, but I also need my social point for this semester,” Red Cross Club Avishka Boina ‘26 said. “I thought [the social] was very fun.”

Red Cross Club allows its members opportunities to volunteer and learn about health. Recent past activities included spreading awareness about AIDS, writing cards for children at St. Judes, and assembling snack packs for Caritas of Austin.

“Red Cross is a really good way to volunteer and learn about health based things,” Red Cross Club member Nishita Mukkara ‘26 said.

Red Cross Club plans to host two more club socials next semester.
