Pushing past Round Rock’s defense, Gabe Parr ā€˜23 drives toward the paint. Parr had three assists throughout the game.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the varsity basketball team lost to Stony Point Tigers, 67-55, at Stony Point. This was a highly anticipated matchup, and both teams fought hard. The Warriors kept up with the Tigers for the majority of the game but failed to take the lead.

Although the team lost the game, there were still bright spots. Cayden Branch ā€˜23 played an aggressive game, scoring 24 points and nailing six three-pointers. Gabriel Parr ā€˜23 had 13 points and pulled down several rebounds.

Although losing this game, the team still sits third in the district, which qualifies them for a bi-district playoff matchup. The Warriors were also not expected to win, as Stony Point is first in the district and ranked fifth in the state.

The Warriors must win one of their next two games to qualify for the playoffs. Then, they will match up with either Buda, Lake Travis, or Westlake. Those three teams are fighting for the top three spots in their respective district.

The team plays next on Friday, Feb. 10, at home against Manor.
