The Lady Warriors hudling up and rejoicing for their new win. The JV Orange Volleyball team went up against the Gateway Gators and came out victorious. “The best thing about Westwood Volleyball is seeing everyone come together , not only at games but on the bus, in school, and even practice” Trinity Osmer ’26 said.

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, the JV Orange volleyball team went up against Gateway High School in their home court. The Lady Warriors played tough from start to finish and came out victorious winning both sets and completing the sweep 2-0.

The Lady Warriors started off strong in the first set with Sadie Hill ‘26 serving aces throughout the game. The Gators put up a good fight with many rallies going back and forth, but it was not enough to match Westwood. The first set of the game finished with a score of 25-18, putting the Lady Warriors firmly in the lead.

“One thing I want to work on after this game is just getting more comfortable with my teammates and learning how to communicate,” Lily Toledo ‘26 said.

Entering the second set of the game, the Lady Warriors had spirit and high hopes. The Lady Warriors started off in dead heat with Gateway. It seemed to be anyone’s game, and both teams fought hard to gain control of the set. Then in a turn of events the Lady Warriors took command of the game, gaining the lead and ending the game with a score of 25-14.

“I think the team was pretty confident and that’s why they won,” Trinity Osmer ‘26 said. “I believe that after this game they’ll practice normally, but still just as hard as any other practice.”

The Lady Warriors will play their next game against Westlake on Friday, Aug. 25 at 5:30.
