The 2024 Election Shouldn’t Be a Trump vs. Biden Rematch

This November, the 2024 presidential elections will be taking place. While it will most likely will be a rematch with Biden and Trump, it shouldn’t be this way.

The 2024 presidential election is less than a year away and is rapidly approaching, with candidates showing what they’re all about. Despite there being a good number of candidates, some bad and some good, it will most likely be a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.

Biden and Trump are symbols of their parties, as well as a symbol of the nation, whether you like it or not. But the 2024 election should not be a rematch. Joe Biden has done a lot for this country, some think he did a lot of good, some bad, depending on where you stand. But he is getting too old to run a country.

Biden is currently 81 years old and will be nearly 82 by the time the election rolls around. If Biden were to win in 2024, he would be 87 years old by the time he left office. Biden’s age has become an internet meme, with names like “Sleepy Joe” being popular across social media.

The situation with Trump is worse. With all the controversy surrounding the former president, such as the classified documents he stole and hid at Mar-a-Lago, and the insurrection he caused on Jan. 6, people can agree that he is also unfit to lead the nation. But the fact is that Trump has a massive amount of loyal followers. He and his followers caused an uprising at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, just because he refused to believe he lost the 2024 election fair and square to Biden.

Neither of these men should be leading the country. The president should be somebody who is younger and can not only appeal to the younger voters, but the entire nation. Most of the government is run by old, white men, causing voters to feel unrepresented in the government. Gen Z voters have the lowest rates of voter participation according to polls done by Health Equity, and according to a poll by Data for Progress, 70% of voters aged 18 to 29 feel underrepresented in Congress. The inevitable Trump vs. Biden rematch draws away younger voters. A study from Harvard indicates that 44% of young voters are unenthusiastic about a Trump vs. Biden rematch.

American politics is fracturing and America needs change. Younger people aren’t voting, and there are no outstanding candidates for this upcoming election. This will lead people to vote for Biden or Trump just because they feel like it’s the “best” option, but it shouldn’t be like this, they’re both unfit to lead America.
