Fairy Freeze also boasts being the closest place in Austin to get a New Orleans-style “sno-ball”, a treat that was first made famous in the 1930s but is still prevalent today. While regular snow cones have coarse and granular ice, a sno-ball’s ice is soft and fluffy, allowing it to easily soak in the flavorful syrups. Sno-balls are much better than regular snow cones, as they’re easier to eat and have a much better texture.
The fact that Fairy Freeze is a locally owned business only adds to their appeal, especially considering how close it is to Westwood. The idea for the food truck was dreamed up around a dining room table, and the owners and staff highly value family and community in everything they do.
