Believing that fundamentally, students can excel best in a playful, fun working environment as long as they’re within the parameters of organization and discipline, Football and Wrestling Coach Danny Faust aims to implement his philosophy as he begins his journey at Westwood. Although not new to the teaching lifestyle, Coach Faust acknowledges that with coaching now in the mix, this new position might prove to be challenging for him.
Working hard to support him and his dreams, Coach Faust’s parents pushed him to be the best in all areas of his life. With their support, he was able to be the first one in his immediate family to go on to college. An old coach of his motivated him more to pursue the teaching route, although Coach Faust states that he always knew inside that it was the profession for him.
“The expectations in this community are high,” Coach Faust said. “[But I’m trying to create] a positive, fun atmosphere.”
Having taught different subjects such as history, special education, health, and physical education, Coach Faust has built up a diverse range of teaching experiences over the years. From his years in the field, Coach Faust acknowledges that being an educator is a never-ending path, and even now he is still trying out new ways to improve. Since technology is constantly changing, he’s trying to use it as a tool to better his teaching methods.
As an educator who aims to engage with students to encourage them to stay happy, healthy and motivated, Coach Faust is eager to bring his new perspectives on coaching and teaching to the Westwood community.
“I truly believe that kids are willing to learn in a positive atmosphere, but [it’s important for that] atmosphere [to be limited by] rules, organization, and discipline,” Coach Faust said.
