Annual Texas Book Festival Brings Authors and Readers Together

Annual Texas Book Festival Brings Authors and Readers Together

Join book lovers from all over the state of Texas on Oct. 17 and 18 for the twentieth anniversary of the Texas Book Festival. Held at the State Capitol and its surrounding grounds, the festival allows attendees to purchase books, attend signings, and eat at food vendors.

The Festival will host over 300 authors, who specialize in books for all ages and genres, fiction and nonfiction alike. Books by these authors will be available for purchase in Book Festival Sales Tents. Authors will be available for signings at the end of their sessions, and Young Adult authors will sign books in the Main Book Signing Tent. Proceeds from the Festival weekend book sales will go to keeping the event free to the public and help fund the Reading Rock Stars program and Texas Library Grants. However, books must be purchased from the Barnes & Noble Book Sales Tent in order to be signed, with the exception of one pre-owned book.

The schedule for Festival Weekend is filled with author read-alouds, book discussions, and panels. The Festival is also hosting almost 100 exhibitors that will have booths for attendees to look at. The Festival will have fun opportunities for people of all ages, ranging from elementary school children to adults, and an unimaginable amount of genres, from thrillers to cookbooks.

For more information on Festival Weekend, visit  the Texas Book Festival website.

Lizzie Deal, Managing Editor
When I'm not writing articles, I am usually found playing soccer, listening to music, and watching my favorite movies over and over. I absolutely love to write, and hope to be a young adult author someday. I also have a slight obsession with books, and cannot go a day without reading something, no matter how small.
