Many students woke up with the disappointing realization that school for the Round Rock Independent School District was still going to happen per usual. The surrounding districts delayed their school start times to ensure the safety of their students. To express their anger, many RRISD students took to social media.

“The fact that a school district cares more about money than students safety is a perfect example of our screwed up educational system,” Emma Forshay ‘17 said on Twitter.

Christina Maunder ‘17 made a statement by dressing in swimwear.

“I am protesting because I think we should have gotten at least a delay today because I know my mom was really worried about the rain. So I thought I’d show them if they’re making students drive in dangerous weather then I am going to show them how ridiculous that is by how ridiculously I dressed,” Maunder said.

Some parents felt the same way and also shared their concerns on social media.

“@RoundRockISD My teenage daughter is supposed to drive in traffic and flooding? Sorry, I love her too much,” @Lindsay39 said on Twitter.
