Round Rock ISD dance programs assembled on Saturday, Oct. 22 to perform their annual fall dance show, Intersections. The performance was split over three shows, 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m., in the PAC.

“I feel that our classes were really really well prepared, they did a great job,” dance teacher Angel Scrudder said. “I think overall, it was one of the easiest Intersections I’ve watched and worked in. I feel like [the students]  were ready for a challenge and they accepted it. We had a good, wide variety of dances that we got to offer that was really nice for the audience to see.”

Westwood’s various dance classes each performed to different music and choreography, including “The Walker” performed by Dance 1, “House of Gold” performed by Advanced Dance 1 and Dance 2-4, “TRNDSTTR” performed by Jazz 1, “Must Be Love” performed by Jazz 2, “Alaska” performed by Jazz 3, “5AM” performed by Jazz 4, “Code Name Vivaldi” performed by Ballet 1-2, “The Coastlands” performed by Ballet 3-4, and “September” performed by Tap 1-4. The dances were all united under a common theme, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.” After approximately a month of preparations and a dress rehearsal, dancers were finally able to showcase their hard work.

“I was in dance last year so it wasn’t anything new but it was still extremely fun.” Nuha Momin ‘19 said. “The song was a really fast one and very high in energy which made it all the better.”

The dancers also benefitted from audience support. Tickets to Intersections were free and since there were multiple shows that attendees could choose from to best fit their schedules, the audience turnout was high.

“I had a lot of fun up there and the energy each of my classmates and I put into the dance was incredible,” Aneesha Kumbumpati ’20 said. “It’s got to be the best experience I’ve had onstage.”

The block after the performance, students watched the unedited performance footage to get feedback on their performance. Once the footage has been edited, the Intersections DVD will also be available for sale. The Westwood Dance Academy will next perform together on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25, for their spring show, Escapade.
