A few debaters attended a supplemental tournament this weekend at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Being a supplemental meant that it was a tournament outside the Westwood Speech and Debate team’s regular local Austin tournament schedule. The students attended this tournament to collect more points to be able to qualify for the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) State Tournament in March. By going to a supplemental tournament outside of the local area, many students appreciated that it gave them a different experience than they were used to.

“I was able to talk to people from other schools [outside of Austin] and ask them about how their debate team was like and what kind of [debate] circuit they were used to,” Sandali Srivastava ‘22 said.
