In their district opener on Friday, Jan. 20, the JV white boys’ soccer team battled against the Round Rock Dragons. Although the Warriors put up a good fight and displayed determination and teamwork, the Dragons went home with a 2-0 win.

After the kickoff, both teams managed to maintain an even possession of the ball and worked to get the ball through each other’s defense. Although the midfielders of each team worked tirelessly to create goal-scoring opportunities, both the Warriors and the Dragons failed to get their shots past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The score at the end of the first half was 0-0.

At the beginning of the second half, both teams had renewed energy and worked hard to create movement on and off the ball. The Dragons used strategic plays of holding the ball to draw in the Warriors’ defensive players and then playing the ball in behind their forward. The Warriors utilized their passing skills to make their way up the field.

The Dragons gained control of the game when one of their midfielders played a ball down the line to their forward, who ran onto the ball and passed to one of their midfielders, who delivered a smackdown to the Warriors’ keeper. The Warriors tried to stay in control of the ball, but the Dragons utilized their speed and agility to steal it back and push the ball forward.

The Warriors stood their ground and tried to create scoring opportunities in an attempt to tie up the game, but the Dragons managed to sneak past the Warriors’ defense and put another one in the back of the net, making the final score of the game 2-0.

The JV white boys’ soccer team will take on the Cedar Ridge Raiders on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Cedar Ridge at 4:30 P.M.
