JV Black beats Lake Travis in Landslide 16-4 Victory

On Wednesday, Sept. 6 the JV black Tennis team showed out, beating Lake Travis comfortably 16-3.

The Warriors considerably outpaced Cavaliers in the doubles portion of the match, and cemented their dominance in the singles portion. It seemed like many players were starting to find their early-season groove, as seen in Darren Han ‘26 and Jack Miller ‘25’s 8-6 victory in their doubles match,

“I think [Miller and I] played well, we did what we did in practice,” Han said. “That worked out really well. Our chemistry was pretty good, and I hope I can play more matches with him. [In my singles match], I played really well and I did what I was practicing. I went out there to win and I won.”

On the other hand, some of the Warriors still needed more time to mesh their playing styles together. Rithvik Hegde ‘26 and Vedanth Kashyap ‘27 lost their doubles match, one of only three losses on the day.

“I think I played okay today,” Hegde said. “[Kashyap and I’s teamwork] is pretty trash right now because it’s the first time [we’ve played together]. It’ll get better as time goes on.”

However, the hold the Warriors displayed over Lake Travis more than made up for the trio of losses. The Warriors have started off the season on the right track, but they recognize that they can make some improvements in their overall game.

“I played alright, [but] I missed volleys,” Brain Lee ‘27 said. “I made a lot of good backhands that forced them to make mistakes.”

The JV Black Warriors will play Vandegrift next week on Thursday Sept. 14 at 4:30 clashing with the Vipers at the Westwood tennis courts.

I love socializing with new people, playing logic games like chess and crossword puzzles, and playing badminton with my crew at Badminton Club. My favorite thing about student press is that it gives me the opportunity to interact with people that I would not have the chance to otherwise, and it introduces me to people from a variety of backgrounds.
