On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Freshman volleyball played the Manor Mustangs in a two set sweep , ending with the Warriors winning both sets by a considerable margin. The Warriors captured and held the lead throughout both sets, taking the first set 25-14 and taking the second set 25-17. The Warriors didn’t let their lead slow them down, continuing to widen the gap in both sets, ensuring they wouldn’t need to play a third.

The Warriors got out to an early 7-2 lead in the first set. After a few back and forth serves, Westwood took possession of the ball once again, and Bri Allid ‘27 was able to give Westwood a huge lead with her well-placed serves, not giving Manor a chance to get the ball with an 11 point scoring streak.

“We won against Manor last time in two sets and are hoping to come out even stronger today,” Gianna Brown ‘27 said. “We do lots of drills that involve teamwork so by the time we get to the game, we can work, really work together.

During the second set, the team continued to work together on their plays, getting up to an extremely early lead of 5-0 with Chiara Kanazawa ‘27 serving. They continued to hold the lead by a large margin, only letting the Mustangs catch up a little bit towards the end, before finishing the game off 25-17.

“I think the player Sophia Nikazm stood out a lot because she was always there covering tips and she was just amazing overall,” Emily Rice ‘27 said.

The Warriors will play their next home game against Cedar Ridge on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m.
