On Tuesday, Sept. 26, the JV Orange volleyball team lost to the Stony Point Tigers, 2-0. Despite the sweep, the Warriors never stopped fighting throughout the game, even when they were down significantly in points, early in the second set.

During the first set, the game was equally in favor of both teams with the score staying close until the very end, finishing in a 19-25 set. However, the second set proved to be different with the Tigers trying to take the set and end the game and the Warriors attempting to catch up. The Tigers were able to run up the score all the way up to 24-9 before the Warriors broke their streak. The comeback was too great for the Warriors however who gave up the last point before they could catch up.

“I think for the most part, it was pretty good,” Emily Xue ‘26 said. “But in the second set, we just kind of got down on ourselves after we lost a couple points in a row and it was hard to keep up after that.”

It wasn’t all a loss for the Warriors though, the Warriors made multiple noteworthy plays showing glimpses of their offensive prowess and skill.

“[Our goal was to] just to communicate a lot, run our new plays and get some good passes in,” Jenna Mewhinney ‘26 said.

After every point, the Warriors continued to support each other without fail. Even when players made mistakes, their teammates continued to reassure them and play the game like they’d practiced.

“We try to bring each other up by coming in as a team and just honestly being supportive,” Chaitra Surpaneni ‘27 said. “We try to not let mistakes get each other down.”

The Warriors will play their next home game against Vandergrift on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m.
