On Friday, Oct. 13, the JV White volleyball team took on their district rival, the McNeil Mavericks; by bringing home another win in just 2 short sets. The Lady Warriors started off the game with intensity and teamwork attempting to shut out their rivals on homecoming.

The start of the game was neck and neck with both teams fighting hard. That was until the Warriors went on an offensive streak, blowing past the Mavericks and taking the huge lead of 25-14 through the first set. The Warriors’ confidence only grew with their point total all throughout the game.

“I think throughout the season I’ve become more confident in my hitting,” Sriya Chakravarthy ‘27 said. “[I’m confident because] I have more power and try to snap my wrist more.”

Diving across the floor in an attempt to reach the ball, Charkravarthy slid and made the play putting the Warriors up early in the second set. The Warriors struck a slew of well-placed kills giving the Mavericks no chance to catch up, ending the set 25-13. Although the Warriors brought home a win, there are still areas that the team acknowledges they need to improve upon.

“When I feel down on the court I tell myself to lock in and I try to forget about a mistake I just made and focus on the next play,” Emma Waghorne ’27 said.

The Lady Warriors keep up the positive attitude on the court by cheering each other on through every point won or lost. This dynamic has helped the Lady Warriors improve throughout the season and play as a team.

“I think cheering on my teammates is important to helping us win,” Simone Riha’ 26 said. “Knowing your teammates believe in you and are cheering for you to succeed is super important and always keeps my head up on the court.

The Lady Warriors will be back on their home court Tuesday, Oct. 17, taking on Manor High School.
