Varsity Women’s Basketball Falls One Point Shy of Victory Against the Trojans

  • Running with the ball, Lola Montana ’26 runs fast to get the ball on the other side in time before the quarter ends. This intensity shakes the Warriors from scoring a point.

  • Making quick decisions, Theresa Bell ’26 and Evelyn Bell ’28 defened Anderson while also trying to get the ball. Warriors stayed tight on defense as they reacted to the movement of the ball.

  • Working with each other, Evelyn Bell ’28 and Iman Xu ’28 both work together to defend Anderson. The Warriors are forced to make fast decisions while communicating with each other.

  • Locked on the ball, Evelyn Bell ’28 watches closely to get the ball from Anderson. The Warriors stay stable with keeping an eye out for the ball but struggle to communicate through out the game.

Throughout the year, Game Day Leaders constantly remind their teammates to put out their best self so they can be role models to other teammates who need it. As their skills were fostered, the cheerleaders stayed true to their individual goals and ambitions even then stress was at its highest during UIL season. "I'm really proud of everyone's individual desire to grow their skills which also translates to the team's growth and overall improvement," Lauren Patterson '26 said.

Eyes focused on the goal, Bonnie Rose Hance '29 narrowly avoids Westlake's aggressive attack. Despite their aggressive manner, Hance evaded being provoked in order to not get a foul. "I made a bet with my coach to see if I couldn't foul, and I won," Hance said.
