RRISD bad weather makeup day scheduled for February 17

According to the RRISD Central Office, Monday, February 17 will be the bad weather makeup day for Round Rock ISD students.  Wednesday, June 4 will be added to the teacher’s service calendar to make up for the lost staff development day.

Due to inclement weather Friday, January 24, RRISD schools and offices were closed.

Human Resource Services will announce adjustments to other service calendars at a later date.

RRISD’s Calendar Committee approves calendars two years in advance and schedules bad weather days to meet Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) mandatory 175 instructional days. If the district must cancel school for a day, the first designated bad weather day will become an instructional day. If the district must subsequently cancel school again, the second bad weather date will also become an instructional day.

If school is canceled for more than two days, the district will either add days at the end of the school year or follow TEA directives.

Ms. Cat here. I've taught journalism and advised the Westwood Student Press since 2013. Before that, I taught graphic design and advised yearbook staffs in Texas and California for 20 years. My undergrad degree is in Plan II Liberal Arts from the University of Texas at Austin, and I have a Master's of Education in Reading. I was an ASNE (American Society of News Editors) Reynolds High School Journalism Fellow in 2013. I earned my CJE (national certification as a journalism educator) in 2016. I was proud to be honored with the Edith Fox King award for journalism teachers in 2018. I love my job and it makes me especially happy when the newsroom is hopping and all the student journalists are busy following up on stories. If you are looking for my teacher website, click here.
