Debate Wins Big at UIL District Competitions

On Jan. 23, the Debate team participated in UIL District with rival schools Hendrickson, Stony Point, Cedar Ridge, and Round Rock. After five rounds of debating (approximately 1.5 hours), Westwood Debate won 1st and 2nd place. The two teams that won are now qualified for UIL State. Please congratulate Muteramyi Nintunze ’15 and Kevin Murphy ’15 for winning 1st place, and Angela Park ’15 and Jacob Lundquist ’15 for winning 2nd!

UT representative Patrick Patterson describes the importance of teaching kids to be academically honest from an early age. He was one of three UT representatives speaking at the academic integrity seminar on Thursday, March 22. What you have to do as a community is get together with the administration, Patterson said. Create your own honor code. Involve as many folks and kids and adults, as many as possible. Create that honor code and stick to it.
