JV Orange Volleyball Defeats Hendrickson 2-0

Jumping up to reach the ball, Emma Trail ‘22 prepares to spike the ball. Although the ball fell short and the Warriors lost the point, they won the set 25-21. “We’ve really started to sink together as a team, and I think it’s started showing in our plays,” Trail said.
Working hard to save the point, Melani Helms ‘22 dives for the ball. She was successfull, giving the Warriors the point. “I think I’ve improved a ton,” Helms said. “I’ve been a lot more consistent with my passing and being more aggressive.”
Before the game starts, freshmen Claire Delane and Alex Kriz do their secret handshake. The Warriors won the match 2-0. “We work well as a team to execute our plays,” Delane said.
In the second set, Trinity Woods ‘23 tips the ball over the net. The Hawks weren’t able to block the ball, and the Warriors won the play, making the score 24-21. “I think we won today because we persevere as a team and had good energy,” Woods said.
Leaping into the air, Kenna Williams ‘22 prepares to spike the ball during the second set. The hit won the Warriors a point, getting the team closer to winning the match and making the score 12-7. “My favorite part was the end because we all just came together as a team and really worked together and got the win,” Williams said.
The JV Orange volleyball team won their match against Hendrickson 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 13. After losing their previous game against the Cedar Ridge Raiders, the Warriors worked hard to ensure that they won this match.
“We all put in a lot of effort in this game,” Phia Parent ‘22 said. “We all really gelled together as a team when we needed to come back.”
The Warriors started the match off strong, winning the first four points. Many serves were made by Phia Parent ‘22. Kenna Williams ‘22 and Vibha Velur ‘23 showed teamwork by setting the ball together. The Warriors won the set 25-10.
“I think all of us have improved immensely and we’ve all learned to play so well together,” Williams said.
Although they fell behind in the beginning of the second set, the Warriors fought back hard against the Hawks to win the match. Parent and Alex Kriz ‘23 played aggressively, earning several points. In the end, the Warriors won the set 24-21.
“My favorite part [of the game] was when we served the ball and it hit the other girl right in the face,” Trinity Woods ‘23 said.
The Warriors will play their next game against the Vandegrift Vipers at home on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
