  • With their diverse and slightly chaotic Parisian landscape, National French Honor Society’s Homecoming decorations captures the pandemonium of the movie “Ratatouille” perfectly. The organization came in second place for the school wide Homecoming hallway decorations contest.

  • Portraying colorful dinosaur cutouts dancing next to each other, National Spanish Honor Society’s bright decoration lights up the language hallway. The club won third place in the competition with their illustration of Selena y Los Dinos.

After school on Friday, Oct. 15, clubs and organizations gathered to decorate their respective hallways with an iconic group or duo. Drama Club won first place with Titania and Oberon from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, French Honor Society claimed second with Remy and Linguini from Ratatouille, and Spanish Honor Society placed third with the 1980s band Selena y Los Dinos.

“It was a lot of work, but we have a lot of artists in our society. Our officers were leading the meeting, and we got really organized and we wrote down who was doing what,” French Honor Society sponsor and French teacher Ms. Anne Macharia said. “We had a team who did the background, a team who did the main characters, another team that did the food.”

French Honor Society has about 50 members, and the majority helped complete the decorations of their Parisian landscape within the two-hour time limit. Student council judged the final presentations and decided on the winners before the Homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 16.
