Trivia or Treat? PTSA Hosts Halloween Trivia Event

Students gather in the cafeteria and join the halloween trivia Kahoot hosted by the PTSA. The Kahoot asked questions in categories such as Halloween traditions, horror movies, and typical costumes for Halloween.

Parent Teacher Student Association’s (PTSA) Treat Yo’ Self Club hosted a Halloween trivia event during Fun Flex on Friday, Oct. 21. in the cafeteria.

“Everyone loves candy, and it’s Halloween, so we thought that a nice Fun Friday Flex would be to do a little trivia and give [out] free candy,” PTSA Student Representative Rhea Ramaiah ‘24 said.

The club wanted to create an event to help students escape the stress of school and life.

“Not everything is about school, and work-life balance is very important, so we really want to stress [this] because [for] the past few years, a lot of us have been really stressed about school,” Ramaiah said. “We really just want to bring fun into school.”

Their goal was accomplished. The event proved to be a place where students were able to let go of their stresses.

“This is [my friend’s] last day at school because she is moving so I figured it’ll be like a fun friday flex to go to for her last day in school,” Ishira Limaye ‘25 said. “ I’m getting candy and that’s always a good thing.”

In order to put on the trivia event, student reps had to do a lot of work behind the scenes.

“The people in the student reps group are broken up into little mini groups. Each mini group is in charge of each particular event,” PTSA’s VP of Programs and Treat Yo Self Club sponsor Mrs. Katie Berkaw said. Then we organize with the school depending on the location [needed for the event], [and then we determine] all the resources that are required, what to purchase, the volunteers who are needed, and then the time frame, so there’s a lot involved.”

The Treat Yo’ Self club plans to continue having events once a month for the rest of the school year, with their next event being their Friday Funnel Cake Fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 18.
