Focused, Akhil Gharpurey ’23 and Annette Ho ’23 play casino games at Prom. In addition to music and dancing, the event offered other activities like a photobooth and games.

On Saturday, May 13, Westwood held its annual Prom. Prom at the Oasis on Lake Travis was filled with music, food, and celebration.

“[Prom] was pretty good, the music had a wide variety and it was worth the night,” Aditi Mohankumar ‘23 said. “The food was really good and the partying atmosphere was enjoyable.”

Represented by a red carpet and themed decorations, the theme for Prom was Met Gala, an annual gala held at the Met museum, and known for the fashion accompanying it in New York City.

“I danced, met our friends and we’re thankful that Westwood held such an amazing prom experience,” Pranav Sarma ‘24 said. “We had dinner with friends and took photos which was a memorable experience.”

In addition to a red carpet, the prom venue also offered food, including a variety of desserts. Westwood reserved the two highest floors of the venue, with professional photographers and videographers located on the lower floor while the dance floor was on the top floor. The dance floor featured mosh pits, line dancing, and even some slow songs. The DJ played a variety of songs and also took song requests from the crowd which allowed the students to contribute to the overall atmosphere of prom night.

“The venue was really nice, the views were gorgeous and there was a great dance floor,” Diya Meeniga ‘23 said. “Moshing was one of the most enjoyable memories from [the night].”
