On Tuesday, Feb. 13, the JV Orange boys soccer team won against the Round Rock Dragons in a 2-0 clean sweep. The game transitioned constantly between offense and defense with the Warriors applying pressure and the Dragons trying their best to keep up. Both goals were scored by Aidan Shen ’26 with an assist by Joshua Wu ‘26, both making their presence known throughout the game.

Throughout the first half, both teams went back-and-forth, playing both offense and defense until the Dragons made their first big mistake, resulting in a penalty kick for the Warriors. Shen smashed the ball in the back of the net, giving the Warriors an early 1-0 lead. Energized by the goal, the Warriors continued to play hard, not giving up their lead but ultimately not scoring any more goals during the first half.

“Aidan’s first goal was the highlight of the game because that was the break both teams had been waiting for,” Noah Revelett ‘26 said. “[We were waiting] for who would score first and get that momentum.”

Right into the next half, the Warriors were forced on the defensive as the Dragons applied pressure with an increased number of shots on goal. However, without letting any gaps in their defense they continued to push into offense, passing the ball up the field. Griffin Goss ‘26 was a key player in helping Westwood work their way up, commanding the offensive run. Continuously looking for a gap in the Dragon’s defense, the Warriors finally found an opening and Shen scored with Wu’s assist. The goal put the game out of reach for the Dragons, solidifying the Warriors win.

“I have been working on my technical ability and my game IQ in order to face different situations on the field,“ Shen said. “It’s my self-assurance that truly drives my determination to excel. I always believe that I can make something happen with every touch on the ball.“

The Warriors will play their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Cedar Ridge against the Raiders.
