When I’m not in student press, I’m usually playing piano, singing, reading, or watching TV shows (Avatar: The Last Airbender is my favorite!). I go through phases of music really fast, but my constant favorite is Florence + the Machine. I’m also a member of Westwood’s choir program, and sing in the chamber choir. I am a huge fan of Chuy’s creamy jalapeno dip and am very excited for another year on student press!

'Black Panther', 'Kim's Convenience', and 'Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda' are just a few examples of good representation in media. As a society it is important for us to think critically about the people we see portrayed, and be careful about the generalizations we make. The duty of being conscious about representation also falls to the creators though, and they need to be held accountable for mistakes.

In honor of International Women's Day, @BurgerKingUK tweeted a statement saying, "women belong in the kitchen." They then followed it with information about their scholarship program, but that was forgotten as people both shamed them for bad marketing and defended the statement. A day before releasing 'folklore', Taylor Swift posted this image on her Instagram, which included the discography of her album. The songs on it were vastly different from what she has sung before, but still paid homage to her past experiments in music.
