Following a power outage, the lights in the D hallway were temporarily off.

Following rainy weather, the school experienced power outages on Jan. 8, 2024. What started as a one short outage eventually spiraled into a series of outages and finally concluded with one final outage that lasted for a longer period of time.

It’s not clear whether the outages were strictly the result of an issue within the school or if they stemmed from a wider outage.

“Right now, it’s looking like the issue is with the transformers,” Admin Assistant Mackenzie Hensley said.

While the school has backup generators, they only provide minimal power and can not sustain the whole school’s electrical usage.

“Some lights were on [in the office], but our phones and computers were off,” Ms. Hensley said.

Following the major power outage, power temporarily came back but eventually cut out once more between the hours of 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

This is a developing story and will be updated if more information becomes available.

I love socializing with new people, playing logic games like chess and crossword puzzles, and playing badminton with my crew at Badminton Club. My favorite thing about student press is that it gives me the opportunity to interact with people that I would not have the chance to otherwise, and it introduces me to people from a variety of backgrounds.
